Tabung sirip memiliki sirip kecil di sekitar permukaan luar.Sirip ini berfungsi sebagai filter dan mekanisme untuk mentransfer panas dari bahan di dalam tabung ke luar ruang atau sebaliknya.Tabung sirip digunakan dalam aplikasi yang memerlukan perpindahan panas dari fluida panas ke fluida yang lebih dingin melalui dinding tabung.Laju perpindahan panas seperti itu bergantung pada tiga faktor:
1. Perbedaan suhu antara kedua cairan.
2. Koefisien perpindahan panas antara masing-masing fluida dan dinding tabung.
3. Luas permukaan yang terkena fluida.
